Free travel for seniors and carers

Seniors and Carer Card holders will be able to enjoy free public transport for eight days later this month.

After Seniors Week celebrations were cut short in October 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, March 21 to 28 has been selected for free public transport for Seniors and Carer Card holders.

This includes free travel on regional trains and buses. If you want to travel to Melbourne during this time, V/Line train free travel bookings are open.

You still need to carry a Seniors or Carer Card, and touch-on and touch-off with a myki card; however, there will be no charge to your myki.

The Victorian Government said there would be a second week in October to celebrate Seniors Festival and Carers Week.

In line with public health advice, everyone on public transport is required to wear a fitted face mask, practise good hygiene, follow health directions and shouldn’t travel if unwell.
