Works are full steam ahead at GOTAFE in Seymour

GOTAFE’s Seymour Trades Training Centre Extension project is on track to be completed in February 2022.

The tender to deliver the $2.4 million project was recently awarded to Melbcon, who were chosen from a strong field of 10 submissions.

The project includes the expansion of an existing building to include a workshop, static machinery room, learning spaces, foyer, administration, and a reception area as well as minor refurbishments to existing facilities.

GOTAFE chief executive Travis Heeney said he was extremely grateful for the significant investments made by the Victorian Government into the capital projects and asset maintenance.

“It signifies an ongoing commitment to ensure TAFE facilities are contemporary and provide our students with real-world, state-of-the-art learning environments," he said.

“The Seymour Trades Training Centre Extension project will provide more opportunities for students and businesses to train apprentices across the region.

“We are really looking forward to having a new facility that will better catering to the regions trades and it’s growing needs.”

The project has been made possible with a combination of $350,000 from GOTAFE and $2.1 million of funding from the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions’ Crisis Committee of Cabinet Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.
