A motorist who only had her licence for six months was caught driving at more than 45km/h over the speed limit in Shepparton, a court has heard.
Breanna Lock, 20, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to driving at a dangerous speed.
Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Anna Hanlon told the court police detected Lock driving at 105km/h on Wyndham St at about 10.45pm on August 2.
Lock was driving in a 60km/h zone between Lachlan Cres in Shepparton and Riverview Dve in Kialla when she was clocked on a police radar.
Her Holden sedan was immediately impounded by police.
When asked by police her reason for speeding, she said “I got a hold of myself. I have no reason,” Leading Senior Constable Hanlon said.
Representing herself in court, Lock said she had only had her driver’s licence since mid-January.
In fining Lock, magistrate Simon Zebrowski said what she had done was “really dangerous”, especially given she was an inexperienced driver who had only had a licence for six months.
Lock was fined $500 and her driver’s licence suspended for 12 months.
