Police are investigating after a stolen car was found on fire on a rural Goulburn Valley road.
Emergency services received a call about a car ablaze at Kull Rd, Katandra, at about 1.05am on Friday, December 20.
Responding promptly, three fire appliances arrived to tackle the fire, which sparked a small grass fire nearby.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within 50 minutes of receiving the call.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Senior Constable Trevyn Pinto said the vehicle was discovered burning by a member of the public.
While no-one was seen fleeing the scene, witnesses told police they saw an unidentified vehicle departing just before the fire was spotted.
The fire is being treated as suspicious by police.
Police said inquiries had since revealed the car was stolen during a suspected aggravated burglary from a house in Hamilton St in Shepparton between 9.30pm on December 19 and 12.30am on December 20.
