About $5000 worth of power tools and batteries were piled up outside a Shepparton business during an alleged burglary.
A man was also found by police hiding inside the business after-hours.
Shepparton police Sergeant Tania Monaghan said a man was seen on CCTV cameras allegedly using a jemmy bar to try and break into GV Power Products about 8pm on Wednesday, April 9.
An employee went to check the Benalla Rd business shortly afterwards but did not see anyone.
About four hours later, at 12.05am, police were called to the business.
They found a man hiding inside a storeroom inside the business, Sgt Monaghan said.
Four chainsaws, two blowers, about a dozen batteries for chainsaws and some charges had already been piled up outside the business.
A 41-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with burglary, criminal damage, going equipped to steal and possessing a controlled weapon.
He has been bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in September.
