Six vehicles were stolen in the Shepparton area over the weekend, according to Shepparton police.
Some of the vehicles were parked in driveways when the thefts occurred, while some were on the street, Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Costello said.
All the vehicles had keys inside when they were stolen, he said.
Det Sgt Costello urged community members to remove keys and secure their cars, especially overnight.
“Please remove items of value and lock cars,” he said.
Det Sgt Costello warned there were members of the community who would “try every car door” while residents were sleeping.
He said one arrest had been made in connection with two of the stolen vehicles.
A 19-year-old man from Echuca was arrested Monday.
No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
