Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after he was struck by a vehicle on a bushland track at Toolamba on Wednesday, February 26.
The 53-year-old, from the Ballarat suburb of Invermay Park, and a friend went to a bush track near Pyke Rd to collect his Ford sedan, which had broken down, about 2.20pm.
Police said upon arrival they noticed several men near the man’s vehicle.
There was a verbal altercation between the parties before the group of men returned to their vehicles.
The 53-year-old was then allegedly struck by a Mitsubishi Triton ute, police said.
The man was airlifted to hospital where he later died.
Police allege the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 32-year-old Mooroopna man, fled the scene, before he was arrested a short time later in Mooroopna.
He is expected to be interviewed by police today.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and police investigations remain ongoing.
