Further details have emerged about an alleged assault in Shepparton in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, that saw a man hospitalised in Melbourne.
A 36-year-old Shepparton man remained in a stable condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after an alleged assault about 3am.
Police said it was understood the 36-year-old approached a 19-year-old man at a nightclub on High St about 3am.
Police allege there was a physical altercation between the duo.
The 36-year-old was taken to Goulburn Valley Health before being transferred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 19-year-old was not injured.
The 19-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with recklessly causing serious injury, recklessly causing injury, common law assault and unlawful assault.
He was bailed to the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in August.
Police said it was not believed the parties were known to one another.
