Carly Chamberlain pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to two counts of driving unlicensed and two counts of driving an unregistered vehicle.
Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Chris Cole told the court police saw Chamberlain driving a Hyundai sedan before speaking to her when she parked in a driveway in Exhibition St, Numurkah, on March 22.
Her driver’s licence had expired in December 2020 and the registration of the vehicle had been cancelled in January 2021.
She told police at the time she was driving because she needed to go to the supermarket and it was raining, Leading Sen Constable Cole said.
The court heard Chamberlain also told police she thought she still had her learner’s licence and that she had gotten the car from a friend who had told her it was registered.
Leading Sen Constable Cole said eight days later, on March 30, police again caught Chamberlain driving the same vehicle in Numurkah.
