A 16-year-old Mooroopna teenager has been arrested after he allegedly tried to flee from a stolen car.
Police said a Mercedes-Benz lost control and rolled before it landed on its side on a footpath on Barton St in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn just before 9am on Tuesday, August 27.
The two people in the car ran from the scene; however, the Mooroopna teenager was detained by a member of the public, and then taken in to custody by police shortly after, police said.
It is believed the member of the public who detained the Mooroopna teenager was Carlton AFL coach Michael Voss.
Police are continuing to search for the second male offender, who they believe has a fair complexion, long blond hair and was wearing a black cap, black and white scarf, a black hoodie and black pants.
The Mercedes-Benz was allegedly stolen from an address in the Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe East on August 21.
The investigation is ongoing.
