Shepparton police arrested a man this week after he allegedly drove at more than double the speed limit in Kialla at the weekend, and also charged him with several other unrelated offences.
Police allege the 21-year-old Shepparton resident failed to stop his Holden Rodeo at 11.30am on Saturday on the Goulburn Valley Fwy at Arcadia, as directed by police.
Police say that as he evaded police, he was recorded travelling at 150km/h in a 60km/h zone near Riverside Plaza on Melbourne Rd, Kialla.
Police lost sight of the vehicle on Saturday, but say they were able to identify and track down the driver, arresting him in Toolamba on Thursday, January 30.
“Further investigations revealed there had been significant family violence involving the use of a shotgun,” Senior Constable Harrison Davis of Shepparton police said.
“Police later executed a firearms search warrant at a storage shed in Kialla.”
During the search, police found a shotgun, ammunition and methamphetamines.
Along with driving offences including dangerous driving while being pursued by police and reckless conduct endangering lives, the man has also been charged with family violence and drug-related offences.
He will appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court today.
