Sue said she was “quite impressed” and had some lovely walks along the Edward River, while kangaroos managed to sneak up right outside her room at the Deniliquin Golf Club.
While they had to skip a part of the walk alongside the overflowing river, there were some parks with fancy new lagoons.
Oddie could do with a holiday, now we think about it.
Is the world ending?
Flood warnings are coming in, rivers are rising and, to top it off, the world shook in Rushworth and Stanhope this week, with a 3.4-magnitude earthquake setting windows shaking.
We’ve had plenty of plague over the past few years, so a large-scale fire is pretty much the only thing missing from the apocalypse playbook.
Speaking of the earthquake
When the ground trembled on Tuesday, the News was all over it, with Monique Preston chatting to locals of all stripes about whether they felt — or didn’t feel — the big shake.
Oddie did have a few questions, however.
Criterion Hotel owner Kerrin Bartlett said she thought it was just the ghost, and “it was only when people started asking about the earthquake” she twigged.
First, what? Second, how often does the ghost shake its weight around? Third, excuse me?
Also, Monique incredibly managed to find someone called Jess Richter who felt the quake, which registered 3.4 on the ... Richter scale. What a coincidence.
