In recent years the popularity of tribute acts has increased substantially, with audiences flocking in droves to these types of live shows. The latest in a long line of similar nostalgic outfits is Wannabe — The Spice Girls Show, an English production that has toured the UK three times since 2017 and which takes the audience back to the 1990s when Girl Power ruled the world.
Inspired by the Spice Girls’ career, the show is packed full of the biggest Spice Girls hits and new versions of their popular album tracks, along with classic costumes, unique vocal and musical arrangements, iconic dance routines and spectacular visual flair. The show will be hitting Riverlinks Westside in Mooroopna on Tuesday, August 23 as part of the production’s first trip to Australia.
“Wannabe is a high-octane 90s musical with tonnes of music, dancing and fun,” Amelia Walker, who stars in the role of Scary Spice, told Musical Musings this week.
“We are going to be exploring everywhere. It’s not every day that, as an actor, you get to travel to Australia and not just to one place. We get to travel the whole east coast. We can’t wait to see what Shepparton has to offer."
Muster returns
After two cancelled years, the world-renowned Deni Ute Muster makes a welcome return this year with the two-day event happening on September 30 and October 1.
This year's international headlining music act is American country superstar Brad Paisley, who will be on his first-ever headlining tour of Australia. Paisley follows in the footsteps of previous Deni Ute Muster international main stage headliners such as Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Suzi Quatro.
A strong contingent of Australian talent is also featured on the line-up, with acts such as The Angels, John Williamson, Busby Marou, Ian Moss, Shane Nicholson and Troy Cassar-Daley to name but a few.
