Announced by Youth Minister Natalie Suleyman on Thursday, September 12, this cutting-edge initiative is poised to change how young Victorians prepare for adult life.
Crafted with a $750,000 investment, YouthNav caters explicitly to young Victorians aged 12 to 25.
It intertwines interactive prompts and clickable information to make learning about life skills an engaging experience.
From securing a job to managing finances, the platform serves as a comprehensive guide for the younger population to navigate the vicissitudes of growing up.
What sets YouthNav apart is its foundation built on feedback and insights from over 160 young Victorians themselves, alongside financial counsellors and youth practitioners, including organisations such as South East Community Links.
“Young people have been involved in the design of this online platform every step of the way,” Ms Suleyman said.
“The outcome is fantastic, and this new resource will make a difference for young people across our state.”
Their input has significantly shaped the platform, ensuring it resonates well with its target audience.
Moreover, the Victorian Youth Congress’s involvement in co-designing and testing the platform furthers its credibility.
This advisory group, comprising 20 individuals aged 12 to 25, collaborated with the government to ensure YouthNav accurately reflected young people’s needs and aspirations.
YouthNav is part of the government’s ‘Our Promise, Your Future’ Youth Strategy 2022-2027.
“We continue to work in partnership with young people to make sure we provide them with support, opportunities and a voice in the work we do to help them succeed in life,” Ms Suleyman said.
