“Our school is known as 208 and my challenge for the day was to ride 208km, which is 416 laps,” Mr Trewhella said.
“It was to encourage the kids to get out and be active.”
Mr Trewhellla was not the only one getting active on Ride2School Day with more than half the students either riding their bike or scooter to school that day.
“One hundred and seventy kids rode their bikes to school on the day with another 80 bringing their scooters, which was a great result,” he said.
The school encourages students to get active, teaching them how to look after their bikes.
Fun day: Echuca Primary School students Frankie, Isla, Isabella, Aliah, Ayla, Quinn and Abbey on Ride2School Day.
“We are teaching the students things like how to change a tyre, as when they get a flat tyre bikes tend to go into the garage and stay there,” Mr Trewhella said.
“The school is promoting a really good culture of bike use and safety to all our students.
“Through grants we have purchased bikes for the kids to use at school.
“They can ride around our bike track at lunch times.
“We built a pump track as well, which is all about helping the kids be more active.”
The day raised $300 which will go towards the continual maintenance of the school’s bikes.
