The Come and Try Day is for anyone interested in model aircraft, with instructors, training aircraft and plenty of demonstration flights to experience.
“This day is aimed at attracting new people that might be interested in model aviation to come and try with the aim of them becoming involved in our terrific sport,” Echuca Moama Model Aero Club secretary and treasurer Fred West said.
Entry is free and includes a barbecue lunch.
This will be followed closely by the group’s Annual Fun Fly weekend on Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14.
Mr West said pilots from across Victoria could look forward to jam-packed days of aircraft and community.
“Pilots and spectators can see us fly many different types of model aeroplanes — aerobatic, jets and helicopters,” he said.
“All kinds of model aircraft are welcome.”
Mr West said the event wasn’t exclusively for aircraft owners — it could be enjoyed by the pilots’ families and other spectators.
“It’s good to see people like me enjoy the sport and the camaraderie.”
Refreshments will be available for both events, with a canteen and coffee and tea on-site.
The Annual Fly Fun weekend pilot entry is $10 and free for spectators.
Pilots are welcome to use the camping facilities onsite for the fun fly weekend so they don’t miss a minute of the action.
The runway at the VMAA Flying Field on Watson Rd, Kanyapella, will once again be hosting the model planes.
