The Young Creatives Exhibition at the Kyabram Town Hall Art Gallery has wrapped up for another year, and one Lily Horton has taken home the top prize.
The 11-year-old winner was presented with a gift voucher for arts supplies after school on Thursday, February 27.
Her winning piece, a meticulously crafted pastel rendition of a wanted poster for the iconic Australian bushranger Ned Kelly, represented countless hours of dedicated work.
“I’ve won a Kyabram Show award for art before, but that was nothing like this,” she said.
To top off her winnings, she and many other budding artists who featured in the exhibition sold their pieces, getting a bit of pocket money for their hard work creating their art.
From January 13 to February 20, Lily and more than 19 other talented young artists showcased their work at the Isobel Harvie exhibition hall, aiming to sell their pieces and vie for the prestigious People's Choice award.
Anne Churches, a curator for the art gallery, said the decision to pick the People’s Choice award winner came down to two pieces for the top prize, but Lily had the edge.
“It was a tough decision because there were a lot of great pieces this year,” Mrs Churches said.
“It was another successful year. I congratulate all that entered their pieces.”
All the young artists featured at the exhibition were: Lily Horton, Cara Haley, Isis Bookham, Willow Martin, Chloe Richards, Teague Miller, Nataliah Miller, Ruby Reardon, Alexey Yarygin, Visa Yarygin, Alissa Yarygin, Veronica Yarygin, Kayla Jackson, Lexie Zobec, James Zobec, Cordelia Sanchez, Kairi Jaworski, Austin Jaworski and Ari Raykar.
