Their team boarded the bus from Cranbourne donning gold medals, having won the under 10s Macca’s City Cup in supreme fashion.
Although Soccer remains silent in Yarrawonga, Maree Hawking was impressed with her son's involvement in the underdog tale.
“I don’t think anyone expected to win,” Maree said.
McDonalds, in association with professional A-leagues club Melbourne City, hosted the annual event, which featured 370 boys' and girls' teams, from under 7s, to under 16’s.

The group phase for Goulburn Valley Suns Academy was simple; dismissing their opponents comprehensively while achieving high scoring, lopsided score lines.
The knockout phase one sleep later, followed in similar fashion.
The academy’s greatest test happened in the semifinal, with a narrow 3-2 victory against a formidable Eastern Lions Football Club.
The Brimbank Stallions proved no match in the big dance with the Suns comfortably winning 3-0.
The boys scored 28 goals and only conceded four across a perfect winning record.
The tournament victory earned the accolade of highest scoring team, across the U10.
Jack and Ned had firm involvement in the team’s success and will continue their soccer endeavours in Cobram.
It is encouraging from a round ball perspective that there is an eye on the Yarrawonga youngins.
