As we come together for Christmas, I am acutely aware that for many the high costs of essentials festivities may be light on this year.

For us in the NSW Murray region, our enthusiasm for Christmas has been tempered by the Labor Government’s enthusiasm for water buybacks with the call for expressions of interest indicating another round in the New Year.
Instead of buybacks and other misguided or ideological positions like the cancelling of live sheep exports and the McPhillamy’s gold mine, we need a government focussed on reducing inflationary pressures, increasing productivity and restoring opportunity.
Rather than treating productive farmland like a chessboard for renewables projects, we need a technologically agnostic approach to energy with nuclear as part of the energy mix.
In the new year we need a government that looks beyond the ‘vibe’ to restore confidence in our private sector, invest in regional growth and focus on deliverables not just announcables.
That is my focus for the new year. In the meantime, however, I am looking forward to joining my family for a peaceful and joyous Christmas and I wish the same for all of you.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas and if you are on the roads remember – Stop, Revive, Survive.
