As well as these students meeting the clippers, the whole school had a crazy hair day with many students coloring their hair or transforming it into weird and wonderful creations.
With varying reasons for the student’s decision to cut and shave their hair, some in honor of loved ones, they didn’t hesitate the big chop.
Year seven students Lachlan Kelly and Casey Maloney along with year six students Savannah Egan – Green and Charli Pardo collectively agreed it was for a great cause and they were only too happy to lose their locks.
First to get the chop was Lachlan who raised $285.70 for the foundation.
“I did it for my Dad,” Lachlan said.
“I just wanted to shave my head and raise money to help a bit.”
Second to face the chop was Savannah who had almost waist length hair and raised $160 after cancer had affected her family personally.
“I wanted to do it to help,” Savannah said.
Casey was next to go and raised a fantastic $703.
“I wanted to help people who have suffered and donate my hair, so it can be made into a wig,” Casey said.
Last was Charli who raised a whopping $2,400.
“I know a girl who has leukemia, so I actually wanted to shave my head last year but wasn’t able to,” Charli said.
“I really just wanted to do it to help kids in need who are suffering and hope they can make a wig out of my hair.”
Each of the students had parents and family members in attendance, with all parents agreeing they were a bit nervous or hesitant at first when their child had said they wanted to do the World’s Greatest Shave but were immensely proud of their efforts and wanting to support those in need.
In a fantastic effort, after tallying all the money together the school raised an incredible $4410.88.
