Shepparton venue The Deck has sacked a worker who posted “betting odds” for Russia vs Ukraine on a blackboard outside the business.
The sign sparked a backlash from the community and customers.

The business removed the sign and apologised on Facebook but the damage was done with more than 500 people responding to the post, many offended and angry that it was allowed to occur.
In the post The Deck said the sign was the “...extremely disturbing and unprofessional action from one staff member” and the wording was thoughtless.
"The staff member who we will not name, has been sent home and no longer works for us.“
“We apologise for their actions. We as a business apologise (sic) to have offended anyone. We are, and this individual is, extremely sorry and appropriate action has taken place.”
The post ended with the message “Love and Happiness” and an appeal for people not to take it out on front of house staff.
