Wilby Hall advocate Helen White said the artwork improves the appearance of the recently renovated hall which provides an important meeting place for the community and visitors.
“Many visitors who are travelling around the area viewing artwork on many district buildings are already giving it great reviews,” Ms White said.
In 2018/19 Moira Shire Council assisted in the renovations of the 65-year-old hall which resulted in the construction of a new main entrance, accessed from the carpark at the side of the hall.

“The loss of the front door left the south wall, facing the street, blank,” Ms White said.
“A grant from Moira Shire Council along with community donations has helped to fund the new mural which enhances the much-loved building.
“Artist Sobrane was then engaged and has helped acknowledge the memorial hall, depicted the community use along with some local flora and fauna from the Wilby area.
“The soldier and wreath with the red poppies, the dancers, birds and plants achieve this very well.”
Following the renovations, which have created a well-appointed and attractive venue, the Wilby Hall has seen an increase in a variety of activities including the Sunday Afternoon Old Time Dances held on the fourth Sunday of each month.
Regular yoga classes, monthly community get togethers as well as weddings, parties, etc are also being held at the hall.
“This improvement to the appearance of the hall in the centre of town makes it a pleasant place for the community to gather ensuring it will be admired for many years to come,” Ms White said.
