For those still hungry for more soccer post-Matildas, the AFS 2023 Shepparton Cup is here to satiate that appetite. Held at two huge venues — Shepparton Sports City (main hub) and Mooroopna Reserve — the tournament deemed Victoria’s biggest will be a thrilling showdown of boys and girls of all ages and abilities.
When: Friday, October 20, from 6pm and October 21 and 22, from 8am

Ben Salter — Sublimation Tour
Leading up to the 2024 Shepparton Festival, a spring taster is coming with a pinch of Ben Salter. As part of the musician’s tour to launch his new album, Sublimation, Salter will perform with multi-instrumentalist Jethro Pickett and First Nations songwriter Warren Mason. Singer-songwriter Shanikwa AJ, a proud Yorta Yorta and Bundjalong woman, has also been announced as the support act.

Shepparton Model Railway Exhibition
All aboard the Model Railway Exhibition — a showcase of model train layouts from Greater Shepparton, Melbourne, Wangaratta, Sydney and beyond. There’ll be historical and collectible displays, model railway and rail memorabilia sales, and displays from remote control cars and planes, drones and Lego. Plus, a ‘U-drive’ layout for children to run some engines. Refreshments available.
When: Saturday, October 21, from 9am to 5.30pm and Sunday, October 22, from 10am to 4pm

SAM Exhibition Opening — Ellen Lee
A “sensory experience of nature” is set to make its mark on the Shepparton art scene. Head to the Shepparton Art Museum on Saturday to be the first to see a brand new exhibition titled Landscape; of Sight, of Sound, by Echuca-based artist Ellen Lee. The exhibit will run until January 28, 2024.

Spring Gardens at Tallarook
The Open Garden sessions are turning over a new leaf — multiple, in fact. At the garden at Rokeby, Tallarook, all are welcome to see 1500 fresh plant species thriving in the spring sunlight. Coffee, lunch and local wines will be available for purchase. Plus, a free display of historic property photographs and an opportunity to purchase plants from the garden.

SDCC/SHSCC Inter-Club Challenge
Attendees of the SDCC/SHSCC Inter-club Challenge against Swan Hill will be getting more than just racing this weekend. It’s also the official opening and ribbon cutting of the new Centre of Operations, commencing at 1pm. A ‘come and try’ will follow straight after the event.

WALL-E movie screening
Activities in the Park presents a special movie night in Katandra. Friends and families of all ages can come along and enjoy the heartfelt animated movie WALL-E, a small waste-collecting robot from the distant future that embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of humankind.

Shepparton Aerodrome Wings ’n’ Wheels
Cruise by or fly into a show and shine event like no other. At Shepparton Aerodrome, classic cars, bikes and planes will be on show, with trophies for best vehicle, best paint job, best modified and more. All proceeds from the day will be donated to Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad. Breakfast and a coffee van will be on-site between 8.30am and 10.30am.

Cemetery history walk
Local cemetery historian Jeanette Doherty invites community members to step back in time and join her on a historical walk of the Shepparton Public Cemetery. Guided by Ms Doherty, attendees will discover the rich history and untold stories of Shepparton’s past. No bookings required.
