We want to talk to you.
The News is looking for more local voices – contributors working from home, or in our office, or both – who can put a sentence together (we also have sub-editors to fix stuff) but who, more importantly, feel they can connect with like-minded people in the community and the region.
Perhaps you are a bit of a whiz in the kitchen – and would love to share your ideas, your shortcuts and your recipes.
Perhaps you love gardening and would like to help others – because, if only they knew what you have learned, how much easier their journey would be.
Or perhaps you’ve become an expert at ‘ordering in’ – and can update our readers on new menus or restaurants.
Or are you the best binger of all time and can guide others to the best of the best on Netflix, Stan, etc.
Or maybe you’re in a business or industry where your knowledge about products, new developments or the latest insider news is of huge interest to a group in our community. Let’s talk about a mutually beneficial arrangement!
Here are some of the things our readers want to know about:
What’s On
People want to know what is going on – the shows and movies and gigs, the options for kids, where to take visitors on the weekend. If you are organised and like the idea of compiling a comprehensive weekly list that will appeal to local people, give us a call.
Social news
Of course, we’re all interested in people. Do you have a good network? On Facebook and Instagram and Snapchat or WhatsApp? We’d love to have a ‘best of the best’ from social media so more local people can hear what others are doing. Sound like you?
Sport
We have the best sports coverage of any paper in regional Australia, bar none. But we still can’t cover everything. Would you like to see more about a sport you are passionate about? Cycling? Bocce? Baseball? Clay target or pistol shooting? Or just people news around the football/netball/cricket/softball/hockey clubs? Talk to us.
Anything goes
You might have other ideas and we’d love to hear them. Have a go! Challenge yourself! We will help you polish your wordsmithing and give you the tools you need to communicate with News readers around the district. Can you share your passion? Once a week? Once a month? Every fortnight? We don’t care – we want to talk to you.
Best of all, we’ll pay you to do it!
Interested? Contact us and send a sample of what you’d like to write to capture the attention of News readers.
