Goulburn-Valley Water managing director Steve Capewell said the leak in the major 375mm-diameter water main in Archer St has now been located, but warned it may take quite some time to fix.
“We’ve identified the location of the leak and are in the process of excavating to carry out repair works, however it’s likely to be a complex repair and we expect work may continue into the night,” he said.
Water has been turned off to a small number of homes in the immediate area while the work is done, but Mr Capewell said Goulburn-Valley Water was working hard to get the service restored as soon as possible.
Traffic along Archer St between MacIntosh St and St Andrews Rd/McDonald St is still reduced to one lane.
“As the main is located in the road area and to ensure we have a safe space for our team to work, we have traffic management in place affecting north-bound traffic,” Mr Capewell said.
“We thank everyone for their patience.”
