A volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation, GV Pride is a well-established organisation and charity that promotes diversity and inclusion across the community, and also runs Out in the Open.
GV Pride volunteer co-ordinator Colin Armstrong said the organisation was “very keen” to re-establish a larger group of volunteers after COVID-19 disruptions.
“We have volunteers of all ages, it’s a really a great thing to do,” he said.
“We at GV Pride have many different functions and activities, we often use our volunteers at IDAHOBIT day, music festivals; primarily right now we’re looking for some to help us during the upcoming Out in the Open Festival.”
Whether prospective volunteers are an ally or member of the LGBTIQA+ community, the organisation is looking for those who have some time or skills to share.
Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Mr Armstrong said there were many different roles, with training and support a necessity for the organisation.
“GV Pride is about peer support and advocacy so once we do recruitment, it’s about on-boarding with continual support,” he said.
Out In The Open, Shepparton’s annual Pride event showcasing and celebrating community diversity, is on from October 31 to November 13, with programming still in the early stages.
