Campaspe Shire Council says vandalism over the holidays led to the temporary closure of several public toilets in Echuca.
Director of infrastructure Kate Lemon said council responded quickly to fix vandalism.
“These acts are sporadic, and our teams work diligently to repair and reopen the facilities as soon as possible,” Ms Lemon said.
She said it would not be helpful to provide specific locations as the bathrooms were usually reopened quickly, and she did not want to deter people from sites unnecessarily.
The issue, which led the council to issue a public notice on Facebook on Thursday, December 26, was being handled by Victoria Police, Ms Lemon said.
“If anyone sees facilities being damaged or suspicious activities, we encourage them to contact the police, too,” she said.
