Mr Hyde will challenge Liberal incumbent Sussan Ley and independent candidate Michelle Milthorpe.
His candidacy was confirmed yesterday, after Labor’s application process closed last week.
Mr Hyde moved to Tocumwal 18 months ago and said he had actively involved himself in the local community.
He moved to the Southern Riverina from Canberra, where he had a long career as a public servant.
His various roles included being an analyst and educator with the Department of Home Affairs.
He also served on the Belconnen Community Council, and was its council leader for several years.
For his dedication as a public servant, Mr Hyde was recently made a life member of the Community and Public Sector Union.
“I believe I have the skills, experience and connections to make a difference in the lives of the people of Farrer,” Mr Hyde said.
“My adult life has been about serving my communities whenever and wherever the call has come, and I look forward to all the great moments to come in serving the people of Farrer.”
A date for the federal election has not yet been set, although it must be held on or before May 17.
