The festival - which is part of the NSW Seniors Week program - begins Monday and continues through to March 16.
Edward River Council has once again partnered with U3A Deniliquin and Intereach to bring an exciting opportunity for seniors to celebrate, connect and thrive.
This year, the festival is also partnering with Yarkuwa to launch the event with a special art workshop.
Already booked out, participants will enjoy a guided art session through indigenous art with local artist Jo Nathan.
It is one of three activities supported by NSW Government funding, with others including a movie day and open morning at the Deniliquin Community gardens. Bookings for these sessions are essential.
Edward River Library will also hold two informative sessions for seniors during the festival.
Other activities, which still have vacancies but are filling up fast, are as follows:
Tuesday, March 4 - Author Talk with Gary Davis: Hear Gary talk about his latest novel. 'Pitt Street Bankers' is based on actual events, relating to the foreign currency bank loans scheme that occurred in Australia in the 1980s. This is a story about money and how it impacts the lives of farmers and small business owners. Held at Edward River Library in Deniliquin, it begins at 10.30am.
Thursday, March 6 - Staying Safe Online seminar: Presented by CommBank Deniliquin, learn more about identifying and protecting yourself from scams and fraud. This session will be held from 1.30am to 2.30pm at Edward River Library, Deniliquin.
Tuesday, March 11 - Movie screening: View the 2024 American comedy-drama film “Thelma’ at the Deniliquin Town Hall between 10am and noon. It tells the story of a 93 year-old woman who sets out on a treacherous quest across the city to reclaim what was taken from her after being duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson. Bookings are essential - call Helen on 0400 110 749.

This will be held at the Deniliquin Community Gardens plot, from 10am to noon. Bookings are essential - call Helen on 0400 110 749.
The festival’s mission is to promote active, healthy, and engaged living for older community members – not just during Seniors Week, but well beyond.
Edward River Mayor Ashley Hall said the festival provides a variety of fun and engaging activities and is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in the community.
“The Seniors Festival is a chance for our older residents to meet new people, rekindle old friendships, perhaps learn something new and feel socially connected again,” he said.
