People in Central and Northern Victoria with asthma are being urged to be alert due to a high risk of thunderstorm asthma in the region on Sunday.
Thunderstorms are expected across the region on Sunday and Vic Emergency warned people may experience asthma symptoms or difficulty breathing due to storms.
The alert was put out for Shepparton, Echuca, Bendigo and other parts of the Central and Northern Victoria region.
Thunderstorm asthma can be triggered by a combination of high amounts of grass pollen in the air and a certain type of thunderstorm. For people who have asthma or hay fever this, can trigger severe asthma symptoms.
Vic Emergency said people with asthma should avoid wind gusts before the storm and close windows and doors, turn off air conditioners which bring in air from outside and be alert to symptoms.
Thunderstorm asthma normally only affects people allergic to pollen.
