Sam Scarpari, from Shepparton's Bicaro's Ristorante, said everyone’s perception of the perfect pizza was different.
“For us it’s about being handmade, and hand-stretched, we use a wood-fired pizza oven to give it flavours, texture and crispness,” Mr Scarpari said.
“The perfection lays in the handiwork and the love put into it.”
Fryers St Food Store owner Ingrid Thomas believes a good pizza comes down to simplicity.
“Not too many toppings, keep it simple with two or three main ingredients,” she said.
Fryers St Food Store serves wood-fired pizzas every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, offering plenty of options.
For Mrs Thomas, a classic margarita with some fresh prosciutto does the trick.
Mohamed Fatelawi, owner of Shepparton's Pizza Place, said making a decent pizza depended on two main staples: the right height of the dough and the person making it.
“I think it’s about a lot of love and skill,” Mr Fatelawi said.
“You can make one of the best pizzas terrible if you don’t know how to make it.”
