The ride operators, food vendors and the hardworking Deniliquin Pastoral & Agricultural Society volunteers are, and now they’re just waiting on you to come through the gates.
The 144th Deniliquin Show takes on a new format this year, with no events being held today.
All your show favourites will be packed into tomorrow’s schedule, with horse events then continuing on Sunday.
Gates will be open to the public from 7am tomorrow, with the day beginning with the ever-popular Deni Yard Dog Trials.
The canteen opens for breakfast an hour later, at the same time all the livestock competitions and horse ring events begin.
Registrations for the show judging - everything from Tiny Tots to young adults - also opens at 9am, with judging from 10am.
By this time, all the other show attractions should be under way, and all the competition pavilions open for viewing.
The poultry pavilion will be missing this year, however, after a risk of avian influenza growing in northern Victoria lead to a decision to cancel the section yesterday.
This decision was made after receiving advice from the Department of Primnary Industries and other government agencies.
The bar and canteen will be open for most of the day, with the free children’s activities open until 5pm and the free camel rides open from noon until 6pm.
Time specific events on Saturday include the giant pumpkin weigh-ins and judging from noon.
At 4pm is the best dressed dog, the flat chat dog race (25m) and dog jump, followed by the carp throwing competition from 5pm.
Also at 5pm is the Blue Light Disco with DJ Abby at the Shearing Shed. DJ Abbey will also perform at 7.30pm and 9.15pm.
The action-packed Demolition Derby starts at 6.30pm, with men’s and women’s competitions this year.
The traditional fireworks display will take place about 9pm, and sideshow alley will start to wind down after the show bar closes at 11pm.
Show tickets are available at the gate, and this year $1 from every ticket will be donated to Deniliquin Can Assist to support locals with cancer. Some of your purchases from the bar and canteen will also count toward the donation.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for a concession ticket and $5 for children five to 18 years. Children under five get in free with a paying adult.
Family packages are also available for $40, for two adults and three children.
