The 2025 tour will be the largest program to date, with over 150 venues participating across metropolitan and outer metropolitan Melbourne, and regional Victoria.
The tour aims to celebrate the work of local and international artists, reaching galleries, libraries, hospitals, migrant resource centres and community hubs across the state.
“The NGV is committed to ensuring all young Victorians have access to enriching creative experiences whether that be at the gallery or through the Kids on Tour program visiting their local community,” NGV Director Tony Ellwood said.
The NGV’s summer exhibitions Yayoi Kusama and Cats & Dogs will be celebrated during the program, with activities inspired by the exhibits.
Artists such as fashion designers Fatuma and Laurinda Ndenzako, Dr Deanne Gilson and Sophie Honess will also inform the activities available for attendees.
The activities offered include designing a Furry Friend Headband, the Lots of Dots with Yayoi Kusama activity, the Fashion, Culture and Creativity with Collective Closets activity, the Bogong Moths with Dr Deanne Gilson activity, and the Make a Pompom with Sophie Honess activity.
Creative Industries Minister Colin Brooks encourages kids of all ages to get involved in the program.
“No matter where you live, the free NGV Kids on Tour and NGV Kids Summer Festival programs are just two ways we are providing more Victorians with access to quality, free creative experiences this summer,” Mr Brooks said.
The NGV Kids on Tour program will be visiting the Seymour Library on January 9, 15 and 17.
