City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali and students from Grahamvale Primary School were at the launch.
The Moooving Art cows have been moved from their usual locations and have been scattered around Greater Shepparton.
They can be found found near playgrounds and outdoor areas.
Participants will have to correctly answer some tricky questions about each cow in order to make sure they have the right one.
Eight correct answers will put the participant into a draw to win prizes including a Nintendo Switch, Lego sets and a Moooving Art Cow activity set.
Participants will also be able to earn bonus entries into the prize draw with the help of local businesses.
All they have to do is visit five participating businesses and purchase one of their special Great Moooving Art Roundup offers and have their entry form stamped, and they will receive an extra entry to win the prizes.
Participants who visit 10 businesses will receive three extra entries.
Cr Sali believes the hunt will be a great chance to explore the region.
“Everyone in the family can enjoy the roundup, it’s like a treasure hunt through the region and the best part is it’s free and you can start at any destination,” he said.
Grahamvale Primary School student Maya said she most looked forward to counting the blue squares on the cows.
As for which prize she wanted to win, Maya had a very quick response.
“The Lego,” she said.
Entry forms are available from the visitor centre located at the SAM building, or online.
