With the state election on Saturday, November 26, the News went to the Shepparton pre-polling booths on High St to chat to people about what they see as the biggest election issues this year and who they voted for.

What do you see as the biggest issues this election?
“Nothing really, I vote for Labor because I know their platform and what they stand for.”
Who did you vote for?
“Voted for Labor, I vote for Labor all the time.”
Why is voting important to you?
“It gives us a voice.”
Barbara Leckie, Shepparton
What do you see as the biggest issues this election?
“Nothing really, it was quite easy, I knew who to vote for.”
Who did you vote for?
“I voted for Labor because I don’t like the other bloke.”
Why is voting important to you?
“It gives us a say.”
Chris Bell, Shepparton
What do you see as the biggest issues this election?
“I am voting for somebody who cares for the area.”
Who did you vote for?
“I have thought about other candidates, I thought about Suzanna (Sheed), who I think has done a very good job, but I think that Cheryl Hammer will do a better job.”
Why is voting important to you?
“Because I want to have my impact on what’s going to happen in Shepparton.”

What do you see as the biggest issues this election?
“Future funding being spent in the electorate.”
Who did you vote for?
“I won’t answer, but I voted for somebody who will bring the right step forward to Shepparton.”
Why is voting important to you?
“Something that should be taken seriously; in a number of countries in the world people risk their life to vote and I believe we should very much cherish that.”
