In the first-of-its-kind exhibition at Kialla’s Museum of Vehicle Evolution, the masterpieces of Southern Rod and Custom and Maskell’s Customs and Classics will be on display in a show called The Best of the Best.
“For anybody who’s into cars, it’s a must-do,” Southern Rod and Customs’ Shane Rowe said.
“A lot of our cars don’t get seen by the general public, especially cars in construction mode, because we have a closed shop.”
Southern Rod and Custom started operations around 40 years ago, making it the oldest business in its field.
Around 10 years ago, the workshop was relocated from Deniliquin to Shepparton.
“After 10 years, you start to feel like a local, that’s why we support MOVE,” Mr Rowe said.
“It’s a great thing for the Shepp area, a great tourist attraction.
“This exhibition is a chance for people to get to know ours and Greg’s (Maskell’s) work.”
MOVE says the car builders’ unique, ground-up, innovative designs and full custom builds are a testament to the unparalleled craftsmanship on display.
“Regularly gracing the covers of leading automotive magazines, often dominating national car shows, taking home top honours, and taking pride of place on the world stage, these two builders are simply the very best of the best,” a MOVE spokesperson said.
“A once-in-a blue-moon opportunity for car enthusiasts to view these incredible vehicles in the one place. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness the pinnacle of Australian and world-renowned automotive restoration and customisation.”
The exhibition is currently running at the automotive museum for a limited time only.
∎ MOVE is open 10am to 4pm, seven days a week.
