Telstra has replaced missing manhole covers in St George’s Rd, Shepparton, after a member of the public complained about the danger the uncovered holes posed to passing pedestrians.
The points outside the post office in St George’s Rd provide access to underground telecommunications infrastructure for Telstra technicians.
The covers are believed to have gone missing sometime Wednesday night.
Kamaldeep Singh raised concerns on Facebook that the exposed holes were dangerous to pedestrians, especially children.
On hearing of the missing covers, local technicians replaced them on Friday morning.
Regional general manager Jenny Gray said Telstra had a significant amount of above-ground and underground infrastructure across Australia and encouraged any residents who saw any damaged infrastructure to report it by calling 132 203.
