A teenager was taken to hospital after a ute, which was allegedly stolen, collided with a power pole in Mooroopna on Saturday.
Shepparton police Sergeant Michelle Mason said police believed the gold V6 ute had been stolen early Saturday, but was not being pursued by police when it collided with the pole on Graeme St about 2.45 pm.
‘‘Police were actually travelling at the cross-intersection and observed the vehicle,’’ Sgt Mason said.
She said the speed at which the vehicle was travelling at the time was still under investigation.
‘‘That will take time to determine, but given the damage to the vehicle that would indicate that he was in excess of the speed limit.’’
According to Sgt Mason, the teen was the only person inside the vehicle and received non-life threatening injuries to their lower body.
Sgt Mason said the Cobram Crime Investigation Unit would continue ongoing investigations.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or had any information was urged to contact Shepparton police station on 5820 5777 or make a confidential report with Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestoppers.com.au
