The Casey St library has been closed for the past 12 months for $2 million renovations and a 240 m² extension.
It comes with a new space for children, meeting room, quiet reading areas and an IT zone.
The library also connects with Tatura Community House and Tatura Children's Centre.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O'Keeffe said it was incredible too see firsthand the increase in size of the library.
“It's fabulous to see another community building come to life,” she said.
“Libraries are such an important space as it allows people to get together, spend time playing, reading and enjoying social interaction.”
Cr O'Keeffe thanked Tatura community members for their patience during the renovations.
The renovations and extension were funded by the Victorian Government ($600,000), Greater Shepparton City Council ($1.3 million) and the community ($131,000, including $100,000 obtained through a Federal Government grant).
Goulburn Valley Libraries chief executive Kevin Preece said the renovations breathed new life into the library.
“We now have a fantastic library that works much better for library users and has some terrific new features which will make the experience more enjoyable,” Mr Preece said.
The temporary library on Hogan St, which was set up during the renovation, has now closed.
