This result has occurred twice this season, so we are desperate to have another chance to change the result.
Rob Dennis, Carol Firmer, Neil Gardiner and Clive Baxter played leading skipper Angel Manneken and won by six shots.
Merrigum led by four shots after three ends and the closest their opposition got to them was the six shots which was the final result.
This was an excellent effort as the wind made conditions difficult. Well done!
Joe Chant, Wayne Shepherd, Noreen Earl and Lee Chant drew Fiona Smith and managed to sneak in by two shots.
The biggest margin between the two teams was four shots and the scores were level on three occasions.
One shot separated the teams at the commencement of the last end and the Merrigum skip was able to pick up the kitty with last bowl of the match and win by two shots.
In the last game Barry Parson’s rink was outclassed by L. Sinden and lost by 15 shots.
On Sunday we held the Ethel Younger Memorial day and all players enjoyed a fun afternoon of bowls and frivolity.
The day ended with a scrumptious afternoon tea and presentation of trophies.
The Younger family was represented by Laurie and Mark, Ethel’s sister Rita and granddaughter from Romsey.
The winners for the day were Neil Gardiner, Carol Firmer and Barry McMeeken.
The runners-up were Joe Chant, Ken Philipps and Wendy Baxter.
On Saturday we finalised the club championship and John Bailey is the new club champion.
He defeated Gary Mott by six shots.
It was an unusual game as John’s score was stuck on nine shots for nine ends and Gary’s score was stuck on 18 shots for eight ends.
All congratulations to the winner as he had to defeat a former club champion in every game he played.
John is a highly respected club member and his form this year has to be seen to be believed.
Gary was gracious in defeat and warmly celebrated John’s win.
There will be a meal this Thursday and a decision will be made on that night as to the continuing of the meals.
The attendance has been consistently high this year and we are reluctant to bring them to a close.
