Miranda Wallace and Ashlee Negrone are being hosted by Edward River Council as part of the annual Bush Bursary Program.
The program is run in conjunction with the Rural Doctors Network and the Country Women’s Association Scholarship program.
The students started the first one-week block of the program yesterday, and will return for another week in April.
The students will be exposed to learning opportunities with Shiloh Medical Practice, Deniliquin Clinic, Deniliquin Vet Clinic, The Deniliquin Hospital ED and Deniliquin Medical Centre (Ochre Health).
Miss Wallace is a first year medical student at the University of NSW, while Miss Ashlee Negrone is in her second year at the University of Notre Dame.
The placement combines the enjoyable aspects of country life and rural medicine.
Recipients also spend two weeks on a rural placement in country NSW during their university holidays.
The associated scholarships provide selected medical, midwifery and nursing students in NSW/ACT with $1,500 each to assist with costs associated with their studies.
