The community event was on Saturday, February 3, and took over Allan St for an evening, intending to revitalise the main street and support local businesses.
On the night, the festival received the help of the football netball club and a team of 15 local Scout members.
The football netball club helped set up and pack away the tables that lined the street, while the Scout group collected rubbish and cans left on tables.
As a thank you to these community groups, the Tastes and Tunes committee decided to put the $2000 worth of sales made from the stubby holders sold on the night towards a donation for the community groups that helped out.
Tastes and Tunes committee member Tania Chiswell said it was because of the rallying support of the community and the success of the event that organisers were able to give back.
“It was the plan from the beginning between the shire and the event committee to put the funds back into the community, and so we could get the main street pumping again,” Ms Chiswell said.
“We’re a volunteer committee, so volunteers such as family and friends or these clubs helping out always makes everything run more smoothly,” she said.
Kyabram Scouts leader Jessica Mitchell said the donation was a “lovely surprise” for the group.
“We have just started planning for the jamboree, so any donation that we receive is a great injection of funds into our group so that we can support our youth attending these amazing major events,” Ms Mitchell said.
The Tastes and Tunes committee is working on next year’s event, and a date has been set for February 1.
