Walkway Gallery, the town’s first permanent gallery space, has officially opened at the Tatura Community House and, in turn, opened the door for local artists.
On Thursday, December 7, the first group exhibition had its grand opening featuring three of Tatura’s finest, as selected by the gallery sub-committee.
Sharron Handley-Kriesfeld’s work takes a deep dive into style, technique, colour and material exploration.
Her paintings evoke a sense of joy by utilising various influences such as the movement of energy and emotions.
Pouring her energy into all things miniature, Naomi Kerr’s display shows her work is small in size but not in impact.
The artist specialises in intricate illustrations and miniature models, drawing inspiration from the most minor details and the magnificence of nature.
Jacob Dedman, who goes by Digital Journey Photography, is also influenced by the great outdoors.
The 18-year-old photographer has won several awards for his stunning time captures that blend natural scenery with surreal settings.
Tatura Community House co-manager Tom Boocock said the first exhibition’s theme showcases the selected artist’s talents and what they love to do.
“These artists are polar opposites in style and medium, which makes the show so interesting,” he said.
No matter their craft, all artists in the Goulburn Valley are invited to apply to have their artwork included in one of the upcoming gallery exhibitions.
Mr Boocock said the gallery will showcase a new exhibit every two months, each lasting six weeks.
“We want to encourage more upcoming and established artists to be a part of it,” he said.
“It can be anything, we’re quite flexible.
“People can use the whole space or be a part of a group show, it can be themed or differ between artists.
“We encourage anyone in the GV to apply for an exhibition with us.”
All are welcome to browse the new Walkway Gallery at Tatura Community House, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.
