Tocumwal Public School staged their annual production at the Tocumwal War Memorial Hall in front of a packed crowd of family and friends.
It was standing room only as an audience of almost 400 revelled in the music and dancing performed by students across all year levels.
Each class presented a fun-filled dance showcasing a theatre production from around the world.
The Kindergarten class set the tone for the night, performing as Minions, receiving a cheer that would have been heard all around town.
This was followed by Year 1 with the classic Lion King, including the king of the jungle, elephants, meerkats and a spectacular blue bird.
Year 2’s costumes and props were magnificent, creating an under the sea fantasy world performing The Little Mermaid.
The Year 3 students brought the big tent to life with the huge songs from The Greatest Showman.
The crowd started to rock with Year 4 to the pop sounds from High School Musical, complete with cheerleaders and basketballers.
The two senior classes brought out the classics, starting with Year 5’s ABBA musical Mamma Mia.
The students dressed in their ‘70s best and danced to songs that had the crowd singing along with them and bopping in their seats.
Year 6 brought it home with the Blues Brothers, shaking their tail feathers and twisting to the music complete with Ray Charles on piano.
Tocumwal Public School principal Darren White said the large crowd was loud in their appreciation of the students’ efforts.
“It was fantastic to see the smiling faces of the children on stage having fun performing for their family and friends after years of restrictions,” he said.
“I am immensely proud of everyone at TPS and a huge congratulations goes to the students and their teachers who created their own performances and to production coordinator Nicole Laker who wrote the joining script and brought the show together.
“Well done also to sound engineers Nathan Haley and Beth Hatty, who had the music and microphones operating seamlessly throughout the night.
“A thank you also goes to the parents for working with the class teachers to provide their children with the amazing costumes.
“I look forward to what the students bring next year.”
