Smooth start for Supergreen

Alisha Loverso is the young force behind the counter, and is ready to serve the Shepparton community with a smile.

Supergreen is the 22-year-old’s first business, and after gaining experience under the expertise of her mum, who ran Cafe Eighty Eight, Miss Loverso is ready to set off on her own.

“She (her mum) helps me out a lot, and until I get on my feet, she’s here helping, but then she’ll step out,” she said.

Supergreen has been open for just over a month, focusing on healthy smoothies, juices and salads, all made with local ingredients.

“We’re big on whole foods and clean ingredients,” Miss Loverso said.

“It’s completely different from what we’ve done before, so we’re adapting and figuring it all out.”

With a background in hospitality, often helping out in the family business, she knew this was something she was always meant to do.

“You know when you get asked what do you want to do, I wasn’t sure, I just knew I wanted to do something for myself,” Miss Loverso said.

“I never knew what exactly, but food always kind of made sense. This is what my family’s always done, I’ve always done hospitality, it just made sense.

“I saw the need for it (in Shepparton) ... a lot of people have said it is so needed.”

Supergreen’s soft start saw many people eager to come down and try, with the response so far being very positive for Miss Loverso and her team of 10.

“It’s been hectic, to be honest, I didn’t expect the response (from the public) to be so big, it’s been really good,” she said.

Shepparton is Supergreen’s first spot, with Miss Loverso hoping to eventually expand to more stores.

“I really want to do Geelong, but let’s see how I go, get this down pat first, and then I can think further about it,” she said.

From Monday, February 17, Supergreen will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 4pm, and 10am to 2pm on Sunday, with online ordering starting soon.
