Hosted by the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia’s Shepparton branch, the event will raise funds for the McGrath Foundation to support breast care nurses assisting those suffering from breast cancer.
Now in its fourth year, the event is expected to see close to 100 shooters load their guns for the important cause.
“It's a day for us shooters to show us using our sport and raising money for such a worthy cause," event co-ordinator Marion Barnes said.
“It's just a fun event, we like people to turn up wearing something pink in support of the cause.”
Registrations for the 75-target event, which will be shot over two rounds, will open at 9.30am on the day with shooting expected to begin shortly after.
The clubhouse's canteen will be operating throughout the day with snacks and lunch on offer.
With a total of $4000 raised for the Pink Ribbon cause to date, Ms Barnes said the event had grown rapidly during the past three years.
“The first one we ran we had so many inquiries from men saying they wanted to support the event because they had been affected by breast cancer, whether it was from a mother, sister or friend, so we opened up the event and it’s just grown every year," she said.
“Last year we raised $2500; any money is so gratefully accepted for the cause.”
With plenty of raffles and prizes on offer on the day, Ms Barnes encouraged any keen shooters to don a shade of pink and take part in the day.
“We’ve had tutus, we’ve had pink top hats, we’ve had men in tutus, we’ve had fairy wings, we’ve had it all ...it is a fun day and it is for such an amazing cause," she said.
The Shooters for Hooters annual Pink Ribbon fundraising day is on Saturday, September 28 at the Shepparton SSAA Range, 1170 Midland Hwy, from 9.30am. Registrations are $40 for the open category, and $30 for ladies, pensioners and juniors. For more information phone Marion Barnes on 0438 522 082.
