Shilling is unbeaten in weekend pennant, winning for a third straight week against Shepparton Park’s Jeff Boyle on Saturday. He is the second ranked skip in the competition so far this year and the seventh ranked bowler overall.
Kyabram lost all three remaining rinks, Mal Williams, John Hausler, and Rob George all going down in the 67-76 (2-16) result — Kyabram’s first loss of the season.
Despite the result, Kyabram still holds fourth spot on the ladder. The only unbeaten team to this point of the year is reigning premier Tallygaroopna.
In midweek bowls, Shilling is the 12th ranked skip, with a 1-1 win/loss record, but the Kyabram team has played only two games.
As a team the Kyabram Division One midweek pennant team is unbeaten, but sits fifth on the ladder due to the fact it has played one fewer game than six of the remaining seven teams.
• Brad Tinning is into the last four of the Campaspe men’s state fours championship, but faces a big task against Premier League star Kevin Anderson.
Tinning is skipping a rink that includes Matt Liverton, Barry Tinning and Steve Usher. They beat a Moama rink led by Stuart Whyte in round one, then beat Travis Kelly in the quarter final.
That semi-final will be played on December 15 at Rich River.
• Austin Maxwell and Peter Myers will compete in the Over 60s Campaspe pairs event at Lockington on Wednesday, November 6.
Myers is the top ranked third in the Division One competition this season, with three wins and a draw to his credit, while Maxwell is the third ranked lead and has the same record (both men being lead bowlers for in-form skip Greg Fitzpatrick).
• William Hindson’s outstanding start to the Division Seven weekend pennant season has not only contributed to his team being unbeaten on top of the ladder, but he is also the number one bowler in the division.
Hindson and Ray Harrison (ninth), who is skip for the other Kyabram rink, are the only players seeded inside the top 10 after three rounds.
Harrison’s rink of Ian George, Liam McInnes and Jan Macfadyen had a 31-shot win on the weekend against Eildon, as Kyabram won the match 61-25.
Hindson is the third ranked lead in the midweek Division Five competition with wins in both his games so far this season.
Division Five bowlers Garry Salomons (third seed) and John Fanning (ninth) are the two Kyabram players sitting inside the top 10 for the fourth ranked Kyabram team.
Salomons is ranked just out side the top 10 in the midweek Division Five competition despite having won all three of his matches this season. He skips the Kyabram rink that includes William Hindson, Brian Lindsay and Murray Tenace.
