With temperatures heating up across Victoria, regional trains will run at slower speeds than normal to ensure services run safely.
A full extreme heat timetable will be in place on the Shepparton and Seymour lines on Wednesday, December 28, and passengers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys.
There will be a partial extreme heat timetable for the Bendigo, Swan Hill and Echuca lines on Wednesday, while additional delays may also be encountered by these trains closer to Melbourne, as temperatures could rise higher than expected.
People are urged to check the V/Line website prior to travelling to see if their services are impacted.
A copy of the extreme heat timetable can be downloaded from the V/Line website or passengers can ask for a copy from their nearest staffed station.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36ºC in order to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
When an extreme heat timetable is in place, journey times may be extended by a few minutes as V/Line reduces the speed of its trains.
There will be drinking water on board trains, and passengers are encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.
