This production will be Mr O’Brien’s return to the Echuca stage after a five-year hiatus.
“I’m so glad I decided to return,” he said.
“It’s a bit daunting though.
“I didn’t realise how big the role really was, so I’ve been pretty flat out.
“The directors and cast have been really supportive, so I’m really loving it.”
EMTC regular Ms Scott is excited to step into a dream role.
“It’s a dream come true,” Ms Scott said.
“I think people will love this show because Shrek is so iconic and it was such a ground-breaking movie back in the day.
“But it’s also fresh and it’s Echuca and it’s people coming together to put on a show that has such fun characters, memorable moments and really funny quotes.
“And we’re having fun, so audiences are bound to have fun too.”
Shrek will be EMTC’s first musical back since having to cut short Little Shop of Horrors due to COVID-19 restrictions.
With a cast of more than 40, ranging in age from 12 to mid-60s, the show is full of colourful characters, and family fun.
The third Shepparton theatre lover to grace the stage is Bailey Ciavarella.
In his first EMTC outing since Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mr Ciaverella brings out his villainous side as Thelonious and Big Bad Wolf.
Mr Ciaverella encouraged Shepparton and district residents to attend the show, which will run from Friday, May 26 to Sunday, June 3 at Echuca’s Paramount.
“I really hope people see the enjoyment we’re getting out of it, have an amazing time and recognise all the hard work everyone is putting in,” he said.
