Works to upgrade the Andrew Fairley Ave, Lockwood Rd and Old Dookie Rd intersection in Shepparton from a roundabout to traffic lights are set to begin next week, with disruptions to traffic access and services expected.
The works are expected to take until June to be completed and will see traffic signal-controlled pedestrian crossings, new footpaths and sections of shared path for greater pedestrian and cyclist safety.
The existing roundabout will be removed and there will be line marking, street lighting upgrades and significant roadworks to cater for heavy vehicles.
During the works, parts of the intersection will be closed for periods of time; however, access to SPC and local businesses will be maintained.
Pedestrian access will also be provided during the works, with some changes as it progresses.
There will also be relocation and protection of critical assets that run through the area, including water mains, Telstra lines and electricity.
Notice of planned disruptions to services will be provided by the relevant service authorities to those affected.
Waste collection will continue to be picked up regularly; however, collection locations may be changed for some residents and businesses, with those affected to be notified.
